Bandy

Bandy is a ball team game played on an ice field. The players skate on the ice and use ice-hockey sticks to control the ball. Each team is made up of a goalkeeper, who does not have a stick, and ten outfield players. The objective is to shoot the ball into the opponents’ goal

The ball used in Bandy is a small, round plastic ball with a diameter of 6.5 cm. It is coloured bright red so that it’s easily seen by the players and spectators. In addition to skates the players wear helmets and other protective gear to avoid injury. A bandy game is usually 2 periods, each of 45 minutes, for the youngest players this is reduced to 2 x 25 minutes. Goals can only be scored using the stick, and only the goalkeeper is allowed to stop the ball with his or her hands. The highest scoring team wins. If the game is drawn after full time, extra time is played. If the game is still a draw after extra time, the match is decided by a penalty contest
